You'll Need:
Now here is a cute fluffy fellow. He/she/it is easy to make. If you are a bit skilled at hand-sewing, it can be resurrected in 15-20 minutes.
The meebling is great as a small present. If you think that it isn't enough as a present, then just add more meeblings! A small bag of different meeblings is sure to warm the heart of anyone.
Or instead of presents, you could create an army of meeblings, starting as a small "private collection" and then expanding to overtake the world with your dominating meebling-army!
We sacrificed a pillow to get our stuffing. Now our sofa needs a pillow, but we got a meebling in return :) You can basically use anything as stuffing - small paper pieces, fabric discards, rice/dried beans. Anything that isn't sharp.
As for the fabric, the furry-fluffy-thing is optional. You could use leather, latex, pvc, cotton, velvet, etc. You decide. As for the eyes, experiment by adding more eyes, less eyes, different sized eyes, etc. to create different kind of meeblings :)
To create the meebling, you draw a circle on the fabric. The bigger the circle - the bigger meebling. And if you haven't got anything to draw with, you can just try to cut it sort-of-ish round. It doesn't matter much, in this particular instance. When creating anything else, you should always try to be as accurate as possible to get the best result (and you want your stuff to look good, yes?).
Get out your thread and needle and start stitching. The stitching that you are about to make are placed around in the edge (approximately 1cm from the edge) and they should be loose. This means that you will have to make large stitches, because the tread has to be able to "run" through your stitches, like when you are closing the top of a sleeping bag.
Small piece of advice: Use a strong thread and do not fasten the thread when you start sewing. See the image below to see why:)
When you have sewn (loosely) all the way around, pull on both ends of the thread. Pull until it resembles a weird looking cup. Be sure that you are able to put your stuffing through this opening.
If the thread breakes, just go back a step (and use a stronger thread :)
Now stuff the bastard like it has never been stuffed before! Or stuff it loosely, depending on how saggy you want it :)
Remember that is can probably contain more stuffing than you think, especially if you use stuffing from a pillow.
I hope you used some strong thread for the edge-stitching. If you didn't you might have trouble doing this part, without the thread breaking.
Thread in order? Then pull it in closer, as to close the soon-to-be-meebling. It is adviceable to close the hole as much as possible, as it will make your future sewing a bit easier.
Tie a knot!
Now that the opening has been closed (or semi-closed), you need to stitch the opening together, to make sure that the meebling doesn't explode with stuffing all over your face :)
To do this, stitch from one side of the opening to the other, thus sewing in a star-like pattern. But this isn't an exact science, so do not be overly picky about the sewing. Just sew until you are confident that it will hold and you (and your meebling) should be fine :)
If you want a "handle" on your meebling, now is the time to make it. It should look like the small black thing on the picture over the meebling.
Side-note: If you are using glue-on eyes, then go warm up the gluegun or what ever you use, because you are done soon :)
With the handle ready, select a spot where you want it to be fastened. We have sewn it on at the opening. Just sew with "over-under"-stitches to attach it to the rising meebling.
Try experimenting making meeblings with and without the handle, see what you like the best.
Now attach the eyes wherever you want them to be. You might want to experiment with the number of eyes, the size of the eyes, the type of eyes and the placement of the eyes.
If you are using glue, be careful with the glue if you are using any furry/fluffy fabric. Because of all the "hair", the glue tends to tangle in lumps, making glueing tricky. Also, you need to be a bit careful when pushing the eyes in place, as you might easily be burned (if you are using hot glue that is!).
THE MEEBLING IS COMPLETE!! Now, go dazzle you nearest with this ball of infernal cutieness!
