The things I've used. Lace, pendant and the closure stuff. I've also used a measurering tape to measure my neck. You do the same. Add 1,5 cm to the lace.
Fold the ends twice to avoid raw ends, and sew. You should not use more than a cm from each end. Sew on the closure-clasps. If you're using buttons, you should add at least 4 cm.
