You'll Need:
Who ever said that neck ties had to be boring and only for men. ;) Here's a fancy neck tie, you can use with your best shirt. You don't even have to know how to tie a tie. :) It'll be really nice with a shirt with a big collar. I'm going to have to make a collared shirt, since I haven't got any yet. And I played around with the front picture, isn't it pretty. :D
Start out by taking your piece of fabric for the main tie. Let the wrong side face up, and draw a line on the bias (diagonally). make 3 marks. The first a bit from the corner, the next, 6 cm up the line, and the last 42 cm up the line.
By the 6 cm mark, draw a line across, 8 cm to both sides, make marks where they end.
By the 42 cm mark, draw a line across, 4 cm to both sides, and make marks where they end as well.(I made a mistake, hence the 4 marks - just don't make any notice of it.)
Combine the marks by drawing lines. It should look like on the picture. Cut out the piece. :)
Using the tie piece as a pattern make the tip lining. It should go 5 cm up the tie.
Now fold up the tip on the tie and the lining as well. Iron. Then fold the sides up as well, and iron. It should look like on the picture. Crisp and clean. :D
Pin the lining onto the main tie, wrong side against wrong side. The lining should be a bit shorter, or further up than the main tie, so it won't show on the front.
Ready your needle and thread! And SEW! :P Sew some stitches to hold the pieces together as shown on the picture.
Pin the long side of the tide, right side against right side, and sew with 1 cm seam allowance.
Tuck in the top, 1 cm, and fold it down on the backside of the tie - pin it and sew, and you have a drawstring for your ribbon. Now the tie part is done.
Make a rose of your choice. I've made the pretty ribbon rose, that we have a video tutorial on, because it's really pretty. :D I've taken a long piece of fabric, made a bow without knotting it and used behind the rose as "leaves". Everything sewn together by hand.
Sew the rose onto the the top of the tie by hand. Use a pen or pencil to hold out the drawstring so you don't sew it together.
Add the ribbon to tie around the neck, and your done! Tadaa! I think they're really pretty, and as I said before, I'll have to make a collared shirt for these. :D
Hope you enjoyed the tutorial. :) Don't forget to leave feedback, yay!
