Ribbon Rose Tutorial

You'll Need:

Beautiful Ribbon Rose Black Dot

Here's the finished rose before it's sewn. These roses can be used to decorate almost anything - clothes, boots, hats, fabric jewellery, home decor. Flowers can be of any sizes, but there are some limitations. If you make these flowers too small, they might be too hard to create. And if you make these flowers too large, they might not look too well. But you have to experiment with what you think looks good.

To start to create the rose, take the ribbon, and fold it like shown, in the middle of the ribbon.

Now take the 'lower layer' and fold it up on top of the other.

Continue to take the lowest layer and fold it on top of the other, thus creating a crisscross like pattern. Do not be overly thorough, as it matters only little.

To make the rose really pretty, you are going to have to experiment with ribbon width and the number of layers you do. When you feel like you have a large enough "stack", move on.

Now take hold of the last 'step' you've made, and pull in one of the sides. You probably won't make it too pretty the first time you make it, but if you do it a couple of times, you'll get the hang of it. Just keep firm hands while pulling and stop pulling when you think your ribbon looks like a rose.

You can adjust the rose, by twisting and turning the rose arond a bit. Keep in mind, that if you let go of the rose in this stage, you are going to have to start over, so keep your fingers clutched around the bloody thing.

To make sure that your rose, stays a rose when you release your grib, you need to sew the rose in, and around, the middel. You could use a sewing machine with zigzag to secure the rose, or you could stitch it by hand. It may take a try or two to get it right and make sure that the rose doesn't "break" after you're done sewing.

But once you're done, and have tried it a few times, you can make nice ribbon roses in a few minutes. Use them to decorate almost anything.
